Trained in animal health, not only technique

Ryohei trained at Yamazaki Gakuen College of Animal Health Technology in Tokyo. That grounding shapes how he assesses a dog before he picks up a clipper — what the dog can tolerate, what it cannot, and what has to be checked first.

Inside a clinic, not just a salon

He began grooming inside Takano Pet Clinic in Japan, working alongside veterinarians on live clinical cases. In Sydney he has worked as a senior groomer in salons and at Vetmed veterinary clinics, so he has seen grooming from inside a clinic — a view few groomers get.

Grooming since 2007

A professional groomer since 2007, he has groomed more than 30,000 dogs, including anxious, senior, injured and medically complex cases. His method comes from that volume of hands-on work, not from a classroom alone.

Teaching Japan's grooming industry

He was invited by Pet Forest Trimming School in Japan to run a special care seminar for around 15 of their groomers.

Founder of Filicious Pet Services

Ryohei is the founder and owner-operator of Filicious Pet Services in Sydney, and the creator of two training programs built from his own casework: the Special Care Dog Grooming program and the Puppy Classroom program for puppies under 16 weeks.

Community

He volunteers as a groomer at Monika's Doggie Rescue in Sydney — the same standard, for dogs with nowhere else to go.

In his words

“I believe every dog deserves a high-quality groom, and to be treated with respect and care throughout the process. What I provide is comfort, safety and love.”

What he is working towards

Not to keep special care rare, but to make it standard — teaching groomers to read why a dog is struggling, so fewer dogs are called too difficult to groom.
